Kanji recall · 見持待読
See, Hold, Wait, Read

About this set
Four more everyday verbs. 見る (miru, to see), 持つ (motsu, to hold), 待つ (matsu, to wait), and 読む (yomu, to read). Notice 持 and 待 are near-twins — both built on 寺 (temple) — a handy memory hook to keep them apart.

Reading notes
見 is み.る (ケン in 意見, opinion). 持 も.つ (ジ in 所持) and 待 ま.つ (タイ in 期待) share the 寺 phonetic — left radical tells them apart (扌 hand vs 彳 step). 読 よ.む (ドク in 読書, トウ in 読点).
